Leadership Shifts in Tech: Symbl Welcomes New CTO; Nautilus Appoints CMO; WRF Leader Exits

Symbl, a conversation analysis startup leveraging generative AI, is undergoing leadership changes as it positions itself for future growth.

Selvan Senthivel has been named the new Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for the Seattle-based company, now in its sixth year. Senthivel previously served as the CTO at GE HealthCare and held senior roles in AI engineering at Amazon Web Services, among other notable positions. According to Symbl’s CEO, Surbhi Rathore, Senthivel has played a crucial role in building infrastructure that has broad applications across various industries.

Toshish Jawale, co-founder and former CTO of Symbl, has transitioned to the role of Chief AI Engineer, focusing on the company’s core AI initiatives.

Meanwhile, William Canestaro has stepped down as Managing Director of the Washington Research Foundation (WRF) after an eight-year tenure. The foundation supports the commercialization of technologies developed at universities and nonprofits. Canestaro remains active in the startup community, serving on the boards of multiple companies and holding an affiliation with the University of Washington’s School of Pharmacy.

In other leadership news, Milkana Brace, who serves as Executive Vice President of Consumer Product at Remitly, has joined the board of directors for the Technology Alliance, a Seattle-based nonprofit that advances technology initiatives throughout Washington State. Brace previously founded Jargon, a company focused on translating voice assistants into different languages, and held senior roles at Expedia and Groupon. The Technology Alliance emphasized her deep expertise and forward-thinking vision as valuable assets to their organization’s strategic growth.

At Nautilus Biotechnology, Ken Suzuki has been appointed Chief Marketing Officer. Nautilus, a Seattle company developing a cutting-edge platform for proteome analysis, will have Suzuki overseeing marketing efforts from its R&D base in the Bay Area. Suzuki previously spent over two decades at Agilent Technologies, a leader in scientific instruments.

Additionally, Elizabeth George, former head of marketing at software analytics company Statsig, has departed from her role, while Katie Curnutte, co-founder and president of Kingston Marketing Group, has launched a new business in the Seattle area called Wagl Coaching, specializing in ADHD coaching.
